Oleg Shkolyar - drums
Growing up in the former U.S.S.R., rock-n-roll music, and the instruments needed to play it, were bought only on the Black Market. So, Oleg began his drumming on household chairs and mom’s cooking pots since nothing else was available. At 12, he made his own set out of sheet metal tied to a stick, a cymbal, and a marching snare drum. He was drafted into the army at 19. Two years later, Oleg picked up his drum sticks again playing amateur gigs while studying percussion.
In 1991, he and his family immigrated to Jacksonville, Florida. In 1996, his first band in America was a country band, formed with Tedd Ennis. He then played weddings with a top 40 band, played in a blues/rock band, and a Rockabilly band; Eric and the Furies. In 2000, he was introduced to Carry Carman and Vagabond’s Dream by Peter Duffy. Oleg and Pete became friends and were a solid rhythm section with Vagabond’s Dream. Until today, now he is the proud drummer of the Mike Miller Band.
